Sláinte! In a heartwarming start to St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, Dorchester grandad Barry O’Toole, 72, announced to his family that he’s finally ready to pass down his coveted Irish recipe for green beer to his grandson Riley, 17.
“Riley boy, come here, come here. Now that you’re legally old enough to drink, it’s time for you to learn about your heritage. This recipe has been passed down O’Toole to O’Toole for generations. It’s been in our family since before we left Cork. Listen closely.”
Barry whispered into Riley’s ear for what felt like minutes, patted him on the back, put a traditional Kelly green sequined top hat on his head, and nodded stoically.
“He now holds the knowledge.”
The family burst into cheer as ancestral Irish music, The Dropkick Murphys, flooded the triple decker.
After 12 or so beers, Riley, beaming with pride, revealed to our reporters what he learned from his Grandad.
“He told me you mix beer…with green.”
