A well-known local institution earned a prestigious accolade this year after a recent nationwide survey of colleges and universities conducted by Money Magazine ranked Harvard University the second best university in all of Cambridge, Massachusetts.
After a rigorous comparison of colleges across the entire nation, which took into consideration countless factors like percentage of students who receive grants, average earnings after graduation, and overall quality of education, the magazine determined that Harvard University was almost the best college within the 7.1 square mile city limits of Cambridge.
University spokesperson Gordon Pembrooke mentioned what an honor it was to nab the number two spot among Cantabrigian colleges, saying “As the oldest institution of higher learning in the nation, Harvard is proud to be continuing our long legacy of academic excellence and global leadership. And earning the coveted silver medal spot among all of the universities in our city of 118,000 is proof of that legacy.”
Pembrooke later added that although Harvard would love to take the top spot away from MIT at some point, the school was pleased to have eked out Lesley University for the second place spot.
